Almost moving time!
Last Wednesday Jillian, her mom, sister, family friend, my mom, my grandma, and I all went out for dinner at Clifford Lake Inn in order to discuss bridal shower stuff. We're all making casseroles/salads...around 70 people were invited, so it should be quite the event. I'm in charge of creating a fun practice bouquet out of the gift ribbons for her wedding rehersal. Wish me luck with that...I'm also making a delicious broccoli/cauliflower/red onion/sunflower seed/bacon salad...never made it before, but it's soo good when other people bring it. At dinner my mom, my grandma, and I all started with a glass of the piesporter wine, and I ordered a pina colada to accompany my dinner. The dinner was not very good (it was supposed to be "pan-fried" walleye, but came out more just seared on one side, with scaly stuff on the other side...not a fan of my fish looking like fish), however the pina colada was awesome! Creamy, sweet, no ice chunks, some whipped cream and 3 cherries on the top...
Friday night Todd and I met for a movie in Mt. Pleasant. Ended up seeing "Must Love Dogs", which we decided was good, but would have been better without so much cheese. But it had John Cusack in it, which almost made it worth seeing in the theater. Afterward I drove around town, while we contemplated where to eat dinner. Showed him where I work, nothing too exciting...Decided to go to The Cabin for dinner. We didn't know if it'd just be bar food or more, but they ended up having a pretty good selection. Todd ordered "The Todd" and I ordered some kind of $5 34-oz. Koolaid-type mixed drink. His was good, mine was way too weak. As we were eating, my ex-boyfriend from high school walked in with the older couple he's working for. Good to know that things are not awkward in the least between us anymore. It was weird to see him on campus freshman year, but all of those feelings are totally gone now.
Worked Saturday.
Finished our quilts Sunday...another 5 hours of work. Mom was wrong when she said I could do it all in a day.
Today I went with Grandma (sorta step-grandma) Hoover that I work with at CME to dinner at Bennigans right after work. We caught up on some of the family gossip and what's new with both of us. We don't get to talk at work because her breaks are at different times. Usually see her for 30 seconds before and after work. I wish I could spend more time with her. She's one of the most liberal people in my family, so we share a lot of the same views. It's been really hard on her since my grandpa passed away two years ago (exactly 2 years on Wed). It's good to know that she's not lonely anymore, since her childhood-friend, Mark, moved in with her last winter. He's a really sweet guy, almost as much as her...but she said he's got his shortcomings...like being a proud member of the NRA ;-)
Tonight I dyed my hair again. Couple weeks ago it was sorta reddish purplish brown, but that was the wash-out stuff. I had bought another kit, permanent this time, just in case the first was awful. I ended up loving the $4 wash-out but it was mostly washed out by this week. The new color involved a dye/highlights in a box. The color was supposed to be a medium brown with light brown lights. Either my hair has too much red in it to begin with or the wash-out was still in my hair, but the dye turned sorta reddish brown, and the highlights more of a copper brown. I'm not pleased tonight, but maybe I'll like it more in the morning. It's actually growing on my as it dries. Hmmm...otherwise I'll probably just buy another $4 wash to cover it up until it fades to my natural color. I just wanted it to look normal for my bro's wedding :-p
Wednesday will be the bridal shower, so I'll be out till late. Think it starts at 7 in Ithaca.
Thursday I'm having dinner with my Grandma Foster. She was always my favorite grandma, although the oldest. She insists that she is taking me out before I leave, so I'm picking her up after work and we're going to Loafers Glory in Blanchard (country cooking in a country store in a country town). They have great custard pie and chicken dumpling bread bowls. After dinner I'll make work on packing for Beth's wedding and the trip to Houghton.
Friday Todd is meeting at my house sometime after I get out of work, and I'm driving the rest of the way to Stacey's cottage. He plans to start drinking while I drive, so he should be getting drunk about the time we arrive. Then the girls are supposed to be having a bachelorette party of sorts...could get interesting. It will be so nice to see all the sisters that have graduated again, because it could be a while. Especially Beth with living in FL...
Plans are to leave from downstate ASAP after the wedding for Houghton. I may wait a day or two, but Tuesday at the latest. I need to pass kinetics next week! Including writing a paper... :-(
And YAY for Houghton...this summer went by soo fast, but I'm ready to be back where I feel like I belong. I'm too old for living with my parents. They ask way too many questions...
In other news, parents said they would guarantee me $100 a month in help with rent/utilities this year. I have been extremely stressed about money, so this should help a lot. Also, my brother is getting Charter cable internet service at a student-discount price of $19.99/month for 9 months while he is living off-campus in Alma this year. I'm calling Charter's 800 number tomorrow to see if I can get the same deal...I'll try to talk my way into it...Supposedly it isn't even a cable tv package deal, so I could get just the net.
